About Prism of the World
Just as a prism breaks light into its colours, we break an event down: what happened, why it mattered, and everything that flowed from it.
Why this site
History is often taught as a series of dates. It looks more like a chain: the fall of Constantinople in 1453 made trade with Asia more expensive, Europe looked for other routes, by sea, and those routes led to the Americas. Each article follows one of these links.
Prism of the World is also a video channel: each series of articles comes with a series of short videos, in French on “Le Prisme du Monde” and in English on “Prism of the World”.
Our method
Each topic starts from research checked claim by claim, with the source and the exact quotation. The articles are written with the help of artificial intelligence, then reviewed, corrected and approved by the author before publication. The voices in the videos are a clone, openly declared, of their creator's voice.
We never give investment advice. Some links to books are affiliate links: they are flagged as such every time.
The thread
Each article presents an event on its own terms, says why it matters, then follows its consequences in the short, medium and long term. The last consequence opens the next topic.
Verifiable sources
No figure and no quotation without a source. The sources are listed at the end of each article, with a link when they are online.
Debates stay debates
When historians disagree, we say so, and we say who argues what. No superlative that the facts do not support.
AI, declared
The articles are prepared with the help of artificial intelligence from sourced research, then reviewed, corrected and owned by the author.
